I began playing guitar around 14 or 15. There is actually a photograph of me on the day I got my first guitar where I'm holding upsidedown and left handed, showing real potential! Then someone exposed me to Metallica (as with every other annoying 15 year old guitarist) and it was all over from there. Whatever social life I had as a pimply fat kid went out the window and I started practicing constantly. I don't think I was born with any kind of natural gift or anything like that, but I was definately brought up on some awesome music, shaping the way I am today. Thanks mum and dad!
My role in Sonic Altar came along through a text from Kane asking if I wanted to jam. I heard about the ideas for a change in sound and became very intrigued, and subsequently forced my way in. That very first writing session, we wrote 'In the Night' together. Since then everything has been on the up for me. Finding a band where everyone is on the same page, commited, a laugh, great friends, total arseholes, and of course absolutely fuckin' kickass at what they do is a godsend. Playing live with such talented people is a rush and a privilege, recording an album with genius Mike Exeter was probably the highlight of my life, even every band practice is the highlight of my week. I feel such an intravenous personal connection with this band and I want to take our craft out there to the world.
